Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Warehouse, assist in maintaining the Inventory Control system (ICS) for supplies, equipment, parts, and materials used by the Authority and will be the point of contact in the absence of the Senior Manager, Warehouse. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Compile and maintain records, prepare inventory reports on the quantity, cost, type of supplies, materials, equipment received, stocked and issued, both manually and by computer.
• Performs tasks and completes assignments with little supervision. 
• Represent the department in meetings and on specific projects as needed or in the absence of the Senior Manager, Warehouse. 
• Take orders, receive and manage inventory by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events. 
• Mentor and assist level I Inventory Control Specialist within the department. 
• Provide information and issue supplies, equipment, or parts to supervisors, work crews, and personnel.
• Create and manage purchase orders and process invoices.
• Create inventory projection reports to determine quantities of items to order. 
• Prepare requisitions for supplies, materials, parts, and equipment.
• Coordinate distribution and return of supplies, materials, parts and equipment with contact vendors.
• Work with contact vendors to determine availability of items, price, delivery dates, repairs, maintenance, and general information.
• Maintain records and files for all purchases, order requisitions, maintenance requests, special deliveries, pick-ups, and all items on loan.
• Load and unload supplies, equipment etc. manually or with the appropriate equipment and stock shelves.
• Maintain current listing of all bin locations for inventories and stored items.
• Label all items in the warehouse with a number, description, unit of measure, and bin location.
• Must be able to respond to callouts.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned or required.  
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of manual and computer inventory control procedures.
• Some knowledge of accounts payable procedures and document processing.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Understand the rules regulations and policies governing the work including safety hazards and precautions involved with the work. 
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, outside agencies, and the public.
 
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The following requirements list the minimum education/training/experience required to qualify for this job. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two (2) years of full-time experience maintaining a computerized inventory control system, which includes one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office software
• Three (3) years of warehouse and/or purchasing experience preferred. 
 
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicant must present a current, valid Class C (Class 1) Motor Vehicle Operator’s License at the time of application or prior to appointment.  A valid driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment.
• Applicant must have permanent residency in the City of Pittsburgh at time of appointment and remain a permanent resident throughout employment with the PWSA. Verification of City residence is required at time of filing application. 
 
SUPERVISION EXERCISED / RECEIVED:
No direct reports / Will receive supervision directly from the Senior Manager, Warehouse.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to operate a pickup truck, van and forklift, and related equipment.  
• The employee will perform heavy work including lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds, and work in loud conditions with vibrations, traffic, mechanical, chemical, fire and explosive risks. 
 
CONDITIONS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a loud or moderate noise level within the work environment. 
• May perform work outdoors under extreme weather. The employee may be exposed to confined, high spaces, like erect scaffolding; loud conditions with vibrations, traffic, mechanical, chemical, fire, and explosive risks; and odors, dusts, fumes, mists, poor ventilation, and gases which may require a respirator. 
• Availability to work all three shifts, as well as weekends, and holidays. Subject to remain on duty beyond normal hours and/or recalled during emergency situations or other extensive periods.
 
MEDICAL EXAMINATION:
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) physical examination performed by the Authority’s examining physician.
 
DRUG TESTING:
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) drug screening. Continued employment may be subject to drug and alcohol testing conducted without advance notice and without individualized suspicion.
 
PRE-EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION:
• Ability to successfully pass a thorough investigation consisting of a criminal history check, verification of prior employment and performance, reference, and credentials checks, and in some cases credit history.
