In Memoriam: The AWWA family mourns Keli Jackson’s passing

Keli’s funeral service is being held on January 17, 2020. In lieu of flowers, Keli’s brother has organized a fundraiser through GoFundMe for Project Pave, a Colorado nonprofit whose mission is to empower youth to end the cycle of relationship violence. The fundraiser information can be accessed here.

Dear AWWA family,

I am sorry to begin 2020 with some very sad news. Keli Jackson, who served as AWWA’s Executive Administrator for the past decade, was killed on New Year’s Day in a tragic act of domestic violence. Her boyfriend is currently in police custody.

Those of us who had the privilege of knowing Keli are shocked and heartbroken. AWWA has lost a beloved colleague and friend. Our deepest condolences go out to Keli’s family, her coworkers on the AWWA staff, and all of those who were blessed with her friendship.
On a professional level, Keli was a tremendous contributor to AWWA’s success. As CEO David LaFrance’s trusted executive administrator for the past decade, she was efficient, knowledgeable and confident.

Her staff colleagues respected her and appreciated her steady and guiding hand. She was also the go‐to source for AWWA presidential officers and Board members. If we had a question, Keli had the answer. And she treated all of us ‐‐ from the Association president to the newest member of the staff ‐‐ with tremendous patience and respect.

On a personal level, Keli will be forever remembered for her gentle and forthright style of
communication. Her job required keeping many people on task and accountable, but Keli somehow managed to do so with a collaborative spirit and a wonderful sense of humor, even during the most stressful of situations.

Keli brought so many wonderful gifts to AWWA and to all of us who knew her. It’s my hope that these are the things we will remember most about Keli, not the tragic circumstances of her passing. For those of you seeking information on services, AWWA will post those on its website as they become known.
