Important Information for Water Utilities: The AWWA Cross-Connection Control committee is preparing to revise the AWWA Manual M14 Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control: Recommended Practices (4th Edition).

The AWWA Cross-Connection Control committee is preparing to revise the AWWA Manual M14 Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control: Recommended Practices (4th Edition).  The M14 is a manual crafted by subject matter experts (SME) throughout all facets of the cross connection control industry and, as such, is a tool used by many public and private water systems around the world. We recognize that professionals within your Section may like to share their subject matter expertise. My particular focus is on Chapter 3: Program Administration; however, we welcome input from SME’s in other chapters as well.  The chapters of the current 4th Edition can be viewed here.  Mitch LeBas, PE is the chair of the subcommittee for the M14 revision.

Please share this note with any appropriate people along with my contact information. A target timeline is noted below.

August 2018: identify potential contributors / authors for revisions to the M14, Chapter 3

August-September 2018: conduct interviews and collect suggested language changes from Section representatives

November 2018: review summary of recommended changes with Section representatives

February 2018: present the reviewed summary of recommended changes to the M14 revision project team
