US EPA webinar: Water and Emergency Services Sectors Coordination

November 3 US EPA Webinar Flyer

The U.S. EPA is hosting a free webinar on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, 1:00 – 2:30 PM. Coordination between the water and emergency services sectors has never been more important as natural disasters threaten communities and critical water infrastructure.  To help emergency management agencies and water utilities strengthen their coordination efforts, EPA developed an independent study (IS) course for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Emergency Management Institute (EMI), IS-0553: Enhancing Coordination Between EMAs and Water/Wastewater Utilities.

Please join U.S. EPA and others to learn more about:

  • The importance of the water-emergency management connection
  • FEMA’s EMI and course offerings and how they can benefit both sectors
  • Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority’s use of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) after Hurricane Irma in 2017 to get interstate mutual aid to repair 117 miles of service lines

We have a great line up of speakers and will have time for Q&A.

  • Lauren Wisniewski and Gabby Minton, U.S. EPA
  • Matt Prager, Branch Chief, Curriculum Standards and Instructional Technology Branch, EMI, FEMA
  • Joel Thomas, Chief Executive Officer, SPIN Global
  • Shandi L. Treloar, Vice President, EM Partners, LLC
  • Julie Cheon, Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority
