This position is responsible for evaluating inquiries to determine the applicability of company products. Inquiries are solicitations of a price to customer specifications. These solicitations may be for budget purposes on a new project, or may be firm inquiries issued with intent to purchase by award to the lowest qualifies bidder. Once the inquiry has been determined to be viable, this person prepares and submits a bid to the customer to obtain the order, and is involved in all subsequent activity concerning the order once received.



  • Identify and take action regarding product opportunities, relying on our Area Sales Representatives. Upon receipt of an inquiry, decide if the scope of the project includes other chemical feed sections and/or polymer make down equipment.  Seek inquiries for those sections through the area representative and alert others of the project.


  • Review all inquiries promptly and decide if Neptune will prepare a proposal in response to the inquiry. This decision is based on commercial and technical requirements including the fit of the inquiry to company products and the acceptability of products to the buyer/specifier. In addition, a determination must be made concerning the amount of effort that will be necessary relative to the likelihood of securing the order.


  • Write proposal for submittal to potential customer. Coordinate all internal activities necessary to submit the proposal to the customer.


  • Follow up on all active proposals. Determine status of customer need and anticipated time frame. Aggressively pursue all active proposals for purchase; coordinate all activities necessary to close the sale, keeping the area representative fully involved in the process.


  • Once the order has been secured, direct Engineering, Production and Inside Sales (Project Manager) to bring the project to completion per the technical requirements of the contract and within the budget and schedule established at the proposal stage. Review and respond to all customer change requests that affect schedule or material scope. Determine the cost impact of changes taking into account the overall effect of the changes on the project including the cost impact on engineering, production and scheduling in addition to any obvious material impact.


  • Make decisions and set priorities for project completion and sales support personnel.


  • Maintain detailed communication with the parties involved, staying current on the progress of the order at all stages of completion. Resolve problem areas promptly with responsible departments.


  • Maintain relations with the Area Representative on a professional basis. Represent Neptune in the most advantageous way possible to all outside personnel.


  • Assist with updating and maintaining product literature.


  • Assist field sales with engineering onsite and offsite presentations.  Ability to travel locally 20-25%.


  • Provide backup support to the Project Manager – Chemical Feed Systems.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.




This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • At least three years applicable experience involving an engineered product
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
