JOB POSTING – Utility Worker – Sewer and Water Plant
Position Summary
Cranberry Township, Butler County, is seeking applicants for a full-time entry-level position for a Utility IV, Labor Grade I at the Wastewater Treatment Facilities within the Utilities Department reporting to the Plant Manager.
This is a bargaining unit position that is responsible for (but not limited to) performing various activities at the Township’s Wastewater Treatment Facilities. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Inspecting, performing electrical troubleshooting and repairs at pumping stations and the wastewater treatment plant.
- Assisting in the operations, maintenance and monitoring of water/wastewater equipment, distribution, and collections systems
- Collecting samples
- Performing routine lab tests
- Maintaining records and
- Assisting others in the repair of machinery and equipment
- Performing general labor, plumbing, maintenance, and housekeeping duties.
The successful applicant for this position must have basic math skills, can follow instructions and be able to work independently, as well as in conjunction with other Township personnel.
Position Information
Required Qualifications:
The Utility IV, Labor Grade I position requires a H.S. diploma or G.E.D; supplemented by at least one (1) year of experience in a team environment, six (6) months of personal or professional experience that demonstrates the applicant is both mechanically and electrically inclined, able to work at elevated heights, and at least six (6) months experience that demonstrates an ability to utilize technical hardware (computers, tablets, etc.) and software (Microsoft Office programs). Candidates must have a valid insurable driver’s license.
This position will require the successful applicant be able to work outside for extended periods of time, lift up to 75lbs, stand and walk for long periods of time, stoop/bend over to pick up objects, perform repetitive laborious tasks, and safely use construction equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Utility Worker I – At least two (2) years of experience within the water and wastewater industry; at least two (2) years of electrical experience, including operating single and three phase circuits; or at least two (2) years of experience with process control equipment or machinery.
Hourly Wage pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement, effective January 1, 2023: $27.14
