POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Technician’s role is to support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and software while ensuring optimal computing performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training and assistance where required and other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES & FUNCTIONS

  • Install and maintain computer hardware such PCs and peripherals, iPads, iPhones, and printers
  • Install, configure and manage software and their functions according to specifications
  • Maintain local networks
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Work with end users to implement security protocols
  • Assist in and plan training, development and education for new software and hardware
  • Troubleshoot to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Maintain detailed records/logs of repairs and fixes
  • Uses ticketing system to work on service tickets as assigned
  • Updates documentation in Ticketing system and other documentation tools
  • Assists customers using remote access tools, live chat, via telephone and onsite visits
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems
  • Investigates reported customer problems, determines solutions and tests and implements solutions
  • Escalates issues that cannot be completed within agreed service levels
  • Interfaces with vendor / manufacturer technical personnel for customer problems that cannot be resolved effectively
  • Communicates with customers, keeping them informed of progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships
  • Communicates with all parties in a constructive manner to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Maintains business awareness with specific knowledge of the customer and how projects and services relate to their business strategy and goals
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by continuing education, professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies
  • Follows all company safety policies, including proper lifting and moving of heavy equipment, PPE, MSDS, lock and tag and others
  • Participates in After-Hours On-Call schedule
  • Completes other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in IT-related field or equivalent experience required
  • Knowledge of IT applications, networks, hardware, software, industry standards and best practices
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes with the ability to understand the big picture to make the right tradeoffs to support the overall business strategy
  • Interpersonal skills such as telephone communication skills, active listening and customer-care
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
