Buchart Horn, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chief Engineer – Wastewater Treatment to join our  Water Resources Strategic Business Unit based out of our York, PA office. This position can be seated in either the York, PA, Marlton, NJ or Baltimore, MD locations.

What you will be doing:

As the  Chief Engineer – Wastewater Treatment, the primary focus of the work will be to actively engage and support our Project Managers as they work with our wastewater clients within the United States, primarily in the Mid-Atlantic and Southern Region of the country.  You will also manage and oversee the design, permitting, planning, development, and construction of wastewater projects for authorities and large private utility companies. The ideal candidate should possess stellar Leadership skills with a strong understanding of the wastewater discipline.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct wastewater engineers and technical staff with assigned engineering projects
  • Support project managers with proposal development, work plan development, coordination of multi-discipline projects, monitoring of schedules and budgets
  • Attend project, client and team meetings, assist with technical solutions to construction problems
  • Monitor trade and discipline advances as well as recommend training for department
  • Ensure compliance with corporate procedures relevant to project design and implementation
  • Conduct field surveys, substantial completion audits, studies and develop reports for special technical projects
  • Apply thorough knowledge of current engineering principles and practices as it relates to wastewater planning, collection, treatment and pumping systems
  • Perform independent, complex engineering calculations and develop construction plans
  • Review the work of designers, and project documents for accuracy, conformity and compliance
  • Maintain strong technical knowledge of design regulations, materials, drawing and specifications (system hydraulics, treatment processes)
  • Participate in new business development activities, proposal preparation and sales presentations
  • Participate in Buchart Horn’s Mentorship Program including sharing technical knowledge and best practices
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned or directed by senior executives

Experience:

  • 15 years of experience in the design and implementation of Wastewater and water projects
  • 10 years of Project Management experience in water resources industry, focused on wastewater
  • 5 years of experience supervising, directing and mentoring engineers and technical staff

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering field, Management, or an MBA a plus but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or other related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E) in Pennsylvania a must
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification a plus but not required
  • Possess excellent existing client relationships with a history of providing reliable advice to clients
  • Basic to Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point

  • Effective Communication skills both verbal and written, strong technical writing a plus

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with strong technical writing skills
