Job Description:

An opening currently exists for a FIELD SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE – THIRD CLASS. This position will work a TUESDAY through SATURDAY schedule. Location Springfield, PA – Meter Operations.

The applicant selected to fill this position will be required to:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Highly recommended that the candidate be a licensed Journeyman or apprentice plumber.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude for the installation, repair & replacement of meters and meter    related materials ranging in size from 1/2″ through 2″ in diameter.
  • Have the mathematical background to interpret meter readings and analyze consumption.
  • Must have knowledge of the Company’s and OSHA’s safety regulations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret pipeline / construction plans as it specifically relates to Meter Operations.
  • Must be capable of using a computer / tablet and have working knowledge of Service Link, Aqua GIS, AIMS, AMRA, Banner and Microsoft Office.
  • Be physically capable of lifting up to 85 lbs.
  • Must be available for overtime when needed, as well as work after scheduled hours, holidays and weekends.
  • Perform all other tasks or special functions as directed by supervisor.

The hourly rate of pay is $34.31 per hour.

All employees hired or entering the bargaining unit on or after December 1, 2003 will receive three dollars ($3.00) per hour less than the classification wage rate. The wage reduction will be returned in one-dollar ($1.00) increases once a year over a three (3) year period. Employee will receive annual contract increases.

A written examination may be given along with a field test.

Applicants for this posting may access their personnel file only one time for up to one hour during the five-day posting period so that they may review previous testing material.

Employees must be employed more than twelve (12) months in a Department to be eligible to apply for a job outside of the Department.  However, employees with twelve (12) months or more in the union but with less than twelve (12) months in a Department, may apply for a job classification that pays a higher hourly rate than the classification the employee currently holds.  An employee will be limited to two (2) higher wage classification advancements outside of a Department in a twelve (12) month period.  If there are no applicants with more than the required twelve (12) months, employees with less than twelve (12) months’ service shall be eligible.
