Dr. Xie Appointed as a Member of the EPA Science Advisory Board’s Drinking Water Committee

 

Yuefeng Xie, professor of environmental engineering at Penn State, Harrisburg campus, has been appointed as a member of the US EPA Science Advisory Board’s Drinking Water Committee by the EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy.  The Drinking Water Committee provides advice to the EPA Administrator, through the chartered Science Advisory Board, on the technical aspects of EPA’s national drinking water standards program.  Xie is appointed for his expertise in physical, chemical, and biological water treatment processes and emerging contaminants.

Xie is internationally known for his work in drinking water treatment processes and water quality, especially in disinfection byproducts and small water systems. He has written and edited three books on disinfection byproducts, and served as associate editors and board members of international journals. He has received the prestigious Fulbright Scholar award from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board; a 2009 Special Recognition Award from the Pennsylvania American Water Works Association; the Professional Research Award from the Pennsylvania Water Environmental Association; and the 2016 Faculty Outreach Award from The Pennsylvania State University.
