Water Treatment Plant Operator – City of Harrisburg, Bureau of Water Resources

Harrisburg, the Capital City of Pennsylvania, is accepting applications for the position of Water Treatment Plant Operator, Department of Public Works, Bureau of Water. This position is responsible for the performance of skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the Dr. Robert E. Young Water Services Center and at various other Bureau of Water facilities. Work is performed under the general supervision and direction of the Operations Supervisor/Superintendent, or other Bureau of Water Managers.

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, water treatment courses or related education such as Water Treatment I and Water Treatment II as administered by the University of Sacramento, or a combination of skills, education and experience providing an equivalent background and a demonstrated ability to perform the duties and achieve certification of a water treatment facility operator. A valid PA Driver’s License, Class B, or must obtain a valid PA CDL within 240 days of employment. Employee must pass Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water Operator Certification Examination for the appropriate class of the water treatment facility within 30 months after successful completion of their probationary period.

The successful candidate must be a resident within the corporate limits ofthe City of Harrisburg, or willing to move yourself (and your immediate family, if applicable) into the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg within twelve months from the end of a probationary period. The City of Harrisburg offers a competitive compensation package of an annual salary of $32,552.87, increasing to $38,297.49 after successfully completing a six (6) months probationary period, plus an excellent benefits package.
