Workshop Description:

This course will equip small system operators to maintain compliance with SDWA and provide safe, clean drinking water to the public.

Why is this Workshop Needed?

The primary target audience for this workshop are operators, engineers, and managers at community water systems (CWSs), non-transient non-community water systems (NTNCWSs), and transient non-community water systems (TNCWSs).  These small system personnel often lack adequate access to training for water quality, treatment plant operations that are needed to operate their systems appropriately. Some of the critical gaps that affect performance of a water system include:

  • Managing distribution system operations to prevent microbial or chemical contamination
  • Understanding the importance of optimizing treatment plant operations in enhancing distribution system water quality

This workshop will provide the necessary training and information to the small system operators so they can optimize performance of their water systems

What are the main components of the workshop?

The workshop will consist of three related but independent modules:

Module 1: Microbial Contaminants

Module 2: Distribution System Operation and Maintenance

Module 3: Disinfection Byproducts Formation and Control
