Celebrate National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month

Celebrate National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month

Join EPA in celebrating National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month this November. National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month focuses on raising awareness of the systems that support our daily lives, such as drinking water and wastewater facilities.  It is also a means of thanking all of you for the work you do, day in and day out, to protect public health and the facilities necessary to provide safe drinking water.

There are approximately 153,000 public drinking water systems supporting 80 percent of the population and 16,000 wastewater treatment systems supporting 75% of the population in the United States. Protecting and preserving these systems is key to ensuring positive public health outcomes in our communities. Find out more about National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month.

Take action at drinking water and wastewater utilities during this month to celebrate National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month.  Follow the links below for actions to consider each week this month.

Week 1: Identify Risk – Use the Surveillance and Response System to protect water quality

Week 2: Get Ready – Conduct an emergency response exercise

Week 3: Be Prepared – Host a community-wide meeting to build resilience

Week 4: Take Action – Implement risk reduction strategies to become a climate resilient community

Thank you for all you do!
