Pa DEP has restarted their operator reimbursement program for small water systems serving 3,300 or fewer persons. Certain operators who qualify are eligible to be reimbursed for the cost of approved training courses or the cost of the certification exam. Water and Wastewater Operators Certification Examinations...Get in the PA-AWWA and WWOAP Zone!

The Pennsylvania Section of the American Water Works Association (PA-AWWA) and Water Works Operators of Pennsylvania (WWOAP) are partnering with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to present the new Operators Certification Examination. To reach the ultimate goal of increased drinking water and wastewater system compliance with the requirement to have a qualified certified operator, DEP requires testing in order to obtain a license to operate a water plant in Pennsylvania. Attention Pennsylvania Operators
New Operator Certificate Program Announced!
August 2008-April 2009

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) collaborated with Montgomery County Community College to develop two 180 hour DEP-approved certificate programs designed to help certify new operators in the high demand fields of Drinking Water and Wastewater System Operation. The course components also offer additional continuing education units (CEU’s) for currently certified operators necessary to maintain their certifications. Start to finish, these programs offer all the necessary instruction, course work, hands-on training, pre-requisite refresher courses, and module exams to help operators pass the final exam toward certification. The program includes on-the-job training and work at a local treatment facility, which can be used toward DEP’s minimum operating experience requirements for certification. These programs are offered concurrently on both campuses.

The certificate program begins in August of 2008 and runs through April of 2009. The certification program is for potential students and also anyone interested in being an Instructor.
